Understanding How Historical Events Continue to Impact Native Americans Today: Mentally, Emotionally, and Spiritually
The audience will learn how Europeans attempted/forced colonization on Native Americans. It’s important when working with Native American population you become familiar with their culture, beliefs and values. Native American tribes are very different and yet have some similarities and by becoming familiar with their culture will often times help solidify a working/therapeutic relationship. For example, Native Americans who are more traditional will require a very different approach than Native Americans who may return to their native communities to visit family or attend their tribal ceremonies.

- Understand how historical events have impacted the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
- Learn how historical trauma continues to impact behaviors, attitudes, world perception for Native Americans.
- Learn how trauma is passed on generationally.
