APNC Workforce Assessment Focus Group: SUD Treatment Program Managers & Direct Care (Group 2)

Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC) is hosting a statewide focus group to capture on-the-ground realities from treatment program leaders and front-line staff. Your input will shape North Carolina’s SUD workforce vision, action priorities, and implementation roadmap—particularly around staffing, supervision, training, and service integration. Insights from this session roll up into the broader assessment and planning effort and will directly inform next steps for improving access and quality across the system.

What we’ll discuss (rapid, practical prompts):

  • Vacancies, turnover, and roles hardest to fill; “exceptionally long vacancies.”
  • Training needs for new and incumbent staff; supervision and CE barriers.
  • Full-time vs part-time mix and implications for FTE capacity and caseloads.
  • Opportunities to streamline policies and workflows that affect retention and quality and could better meet the needs of people with addictions.

Format: 60–90 minutes, interactive small-group prompts prioritized takeaways.

Who should attend: Clinical supervisors, program managers, counselors, peer specialists, case managers, nurses, prescribers, residential/crisis/community-based staff.
