As collegiate recovery communities expand across North Carolina, the need to prepare and empower new professionals in this space is more critical than ever. The Collegiate Recovery Foundations Series is designed as a dynamic and supportive platform for staff, especially those working solo, to confidently step into their roles.
This engaging and interactive two-part orientation builds a shared foundation rooted in student-centered care, collaboration, and system-wide thinking, helping staff:
- Understand their role in shaping recovery-ready campuses
- Develop essential skills to support students
- Build meaningful connections with peers across the state
Whether new to the field or expanding your reach, this series equips you to feel prepared, connected, and part of a growing statewide movement.
Learning Objectives for Part 1 (September 17, 2025):
- Describe how collegiate recovery supports student well-being, academic success, and retention, and explain how orientation helps foster recovery-ready campus environments.
- Define the core components and guiding philosophies of collegiate recovery programs and discuss their impact on campus culture and student outcomes.
- Interpret key organizational policies and procedures, including confidentiality guidelines, incident documentation, and expectations for maintaining inclusive, recovery-friendly environments.
- Practice foundational interpersonal skills—such as active listening, empathy, and boundary setting—to foster safe, trusting relationships with students in recovery.
