Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Group Counseling & Group Community Building: Motivational Interviewing Focus Part 2
Presented by Geri Miller, Ph.D.
Group counseling is a frequently used SUD counseling format. Counselors need to be familiar with this format as well as the use of EBPs (e.g., motivational interviewing) in a group setting. This 2-part workshop will provide an overview of substance use disorder group counseling and building group community with a motivational interviewing focus. Throughout the workshop, experiential components will be used (e.g., case study, exercise, Q & A period) to assist the participant in applying the information to the substance use disorder group counseling context in which they work. Part 2 of this training will focus on the application of the concepts/techniques to one’s own setting that participants learned in Part 1 and cover the following objectives.
Objectives: 1. Identify specific dynamics and approaches related to groups (e.g., telehealth, group issues, techniques).
2. Apply the information to one’s own setting through experiential activities (e.g., case study, exercise, Q & A).
This training is FREE for members and $20.00 for nonmembers. CEUs: 1.5 Hours SS (EBT) Approved by NCSAPPB
